Overview
Tyler advises energy and infrastructure clients on the development, operation, and financing of complex projects across North Dakota and the broader Midwest. His work spans traditional energy, carbon capture and sequestration (CCS), and emerging infrastructure, including large-load and data center projects, where regulatory, land, and commercial issues intersect.
Tyler’s transactional practice includes project financings and secured transactions, asset and real property acquisitions and dispositions, surface use and lease agreements, entity formation, and title review. He regularly serves as lead or local counsel on matters involving state and federal permitting and regulatory approvals, helping clients advance projects efficiently from initial structuring through construction and ongoing operations.
A significant portion of Tyler’s practice focuses on energy transition and decarbonization initiatives. He is actively involved in CCS projects, advising on CO₂ transportation and storage infrastructure, pore space and land rights, permitting strategy, and stakeholder engagement for large-scale sequestration developments.
He also works closely with power generators, midstream companies, and infrastructure developers on projects involving pipelines, power generation, and large facilities, including data centers and other high-demand users navigating evolving energy and regulatory frameworks.
Prior to joining Fredrikson, Tyler served as a judge advocate in the U.S. Marine Corps and as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia.
